Meet the Team

Nicola

 

A former lecturer in floristry opened The Secret Garden in 1991 on the site of an old antique shop.  Now qualified to ICSF level, she frequently travels abroad to take part in workshops with European Master Florists, Gregor Lersch, Wally Klett, Carlos Fontanillas, to name but a few.  She has also taken part in phone ins on local radio stations and has featured in christmas editions of Homes and Gardens magazine.    

 

Teri

Bench trained at The Secret Garden since 2000, Teri is our competition winner.  A good all rounder with lots of wedding experience.

 

Tim

 

A complaints manager for 16 years for a utilities company, he changed career in 2004 and came to us as a student.

 

Marcelle

Another career change girl - a cash office manager in retail - she started the full time floristry course in september 2007.

 

Joy

 

Based for many years in the USA bringing up her family, Joy is one of our longest serving members of staff, 10 years.  Hand tieds her speciality.

 

Mary

 

A big flower club girl and experienced florist, Mary has been with us for 8 years.

 

Julie

 

One of our wedding design team, Julie has been with us for 10 years, and is the girl for funky modern designs.

 

Vicki

Another of our students, but rapidly gaining experience by working while she trains.  Chief IT advisor, formerly window dresser and visual merchandiser for Monsoon Accessorize and Fenwicks.

 

Trish

 

A former student of Nicolas', now with many years floristry experience under her belt.

 

Jal

 

Our Thai princess, originally from Bangkok, Jal has been a member of staff for more than 10 years.  Bench trained and experienced in many aspects of floristry.

 

Cia

Swedish born Cia, originally trained in textiles and weaving, she has a very good eye for colour and texture within flower design.  Bench trained at The Secret Garden, Cia has been a member of staff for 11 years.

 

Robin

Fiddle player extraordinaire, Ceilidh band leader and part time driver.
